PVOutput from Enphase system since 11:00 datapoints changed from 5min to 15min by itself on 23/04

If listed as 2 under settings you have to change the other too I think. But I just set mine back to 5 and 15 and its back to 5 minute captures.

irklit Bankstownbloke put a workaround as per their post above yours

Well thats interesting cause I dont know how he could have fixed the ever increasing energy column data for 5 minute intervals at least on what my systems are now showing unless he is somehow dividing up the energy differences between 15 minute intervals and then spreading it out acrossed 5 minute intervals if thats even possible and accurate…

The graphs are back to 5 minutes since yesterday, but they look awfull. Somethings clearly not fully fixed yet.

As the admin mentioned, “PVOutput will now iron out the 15-minute generation intervals to 5-minutes.” So the 15-min data is now being spread out across the interval, hence the blocky appearance. We currently don’t have 5-minute resolution.

I was looking back at my 5-minute historic data on PVOutput going back over 10 years, and I realized even prior to this incident, that two of the three values in each 15-minute interval are always repeated. e.g. there is a unique value, and then two repeated values, and then another unique value, like:
100,110,110, 150, 170, 170, 210, 240, 240, etlc
The repeated values are not quite a clear interpolation of the unique ones at 15-minutes, but it looks like some sort of processing rather than collected 5-minute data. This goes back all the way to mid-2017, before that was the last time every 5-minute data point was unique.

I don’t think it’s strictly some change I made to pvoutput settings, because if I look at Enphase reports I’ve downloaded directly from the Enlighten cloud over the past 18 months, they also provide 5-minute interval data, but with the repeated middle numbers in each 15-minute period as well.

So I guess I’m wondering, does Enphase even collect and store 5-minute data for the past 8 years, or is it just smoothing 15-minute data. If the actual Enphase data is only actually collected at 15-minute intervals now, is there any real additional data if the API polling changes back to the 5-minutes before this glitch? Or is it all just fake 5-min data, and PVoutput is basically filling in now with a stairstep rather than interpolating?

Hello BB. I just got this reply from Enphase. (Note: I resetm my system values to 5 and 15 in settings) Did you change anything on how you use their interface before any latest changes? See the email to me below and the picture they gave me and attached.

Hi Tony,
I tried to reach you on phone & it didn’t connect.
I just got the update from our respective team that there is one parameter the PV output team should be adding in their interface and its the ‘interval duration’ for 5 mins.
So you have to ask PV Output team to make that request from their end.
I have attached one screenshot where it may helps you, please go through it.
END OF 1st ENPHASE EMAIL TO ME

ALSO and UPDATE: I got this confirmation from Enphase support that my system is generating and storing 5 minute intervals as grand fathered in. Here is their Email to me.

Hello Tony,
I am sorry for the delay in response!
An agent from our dedicated team has checked your system details and has confirmed that the report time is set to 5 minutes on our end.
Please reach out to the third-party interfaces to check if there is any issue with their reporting intervals.
Please feel free to reach out to us anytime if you need any more help. You can also contact our live support at (877)797-4743.
Thank you for choosing solar energy- Clean energy for a pure world.
Have a great day ahead!
Thanks and Regards,

END OF 2nd NOTE from Enphase

Hello

I just got an Email from Enphase, which I want to rely immeditately you all, especially to the developers:

- START EMAIL -

Hello Roman,

Greetings from Enphase Energy.

I did have a check with the team regarding the data polling issue and we were able to work on the root cause.

I would request you to contact the PVOutput team to add an additional parameter to their code to get the response with 5 minute intervals.

interval_duration=5mins

The above parameter will give you an output with 5 minute interval or any interval you specify as value. Please reply to this email in case you need further assistance.

Regards,
Nikhil

- END EMAIL -

Obviously, questions and answers between end customers, PVOutput developers and Enphase are exchanged across multiple channels. I’ll simply forward what I receive without wanting to offend anyone else.

Kind regards
Roman

Pretty much what they told me but I would think BB and developers were doing this already. So I guess we have to wait on PVOUTPUT to check and respond and mayb work with enhase directly for any further understanding.

Today’s graph on PVO is a new mess (since yesterday) with a saw-tooth shaped waveform (peaks & troughs) and the gross daily PV generation figure on PVO is ~20% less than reported generation on both Enlighten, Enlighten Manager and my Shelly / HA system…
The data seems to be going into Enphase systems correctly (because it looks okay on Enlighten Manager etc.) but the API output to PVO looks to be borked…

According to my posts and emails from Enphase they say my enphase and enlighten are recording 5 minute intervals as a grandfathered system that remains at 5 not 15 but something in PVOUTPUT seems to have changed since the first days in April 22nd about that is messing it up intentionally or not IDK. I hope BB and gang are fixing it.

I have now logged a support ticket with Enphase due to further issues with data reporting and worsening monitoring information and graphs in Enlighten. Its not just in PVO but in the actual report data from the gateway and on their App graphs.

My 5 minute power data now reports three x zero values at three consecutive 5 minute datapoints followed by a solid data value which is then reported (unchanged) for the next two 5 minute intervals - the result is there is one unique value every 30 minutes and the zero values are making PVO misreport production and the graph has a deep sawtooth profile (also in Enlighten App).
Consumption data has a zero value logged every alternate 15 min. interval so again, only one valid datapoint every 30 minutes… which is what PVO with the API gateway key is also reporting.

The same system with one minute intervals from Shelly CTs with extended data that is reporting to a child system is graphing perfectly using HTTP POST data sent from HA using Node Red.

Keep us posted on what enphase does noting to them its affecting all of us with 5 minute grandfatherede intervals. I forwarded some of your observation to the Enphase person who has been interacting with me too.

Thanks, testing this now.

Adding the interval_duration=5mins has brought back 5-minute interval data from Enphase.

This issue is considered fixed now, please change PVOutput status intervals back to 5-minutes.

In summary, Enphase have changed how their API behaved when not using ‘interval_duration’ which would respond with 15-minute data instead of 5-minute data.

Interestingly ‘interval_duration’ is undocumented in the Enphase API

If granularity is day, maximum 288 intervals will appear in response where each interval is of 5 mins duration.

Thanks a lot.
Looks great now in my case as well.

Seems as of 5/19/2025 recordings the POWER values are showing a smooth curve again. What I am curious about is what caused the issue? Did PVOUTPUT admins change something by accident causing the issue with using the API or did Enphase change something with the API I noted from their response that PVOUTPUT was not utilizing properly or?

See above - https://forum.pvoutput.org/t/pvoutput-from-enphase-system-since-11-00-datapoints-changed-from-5min-to-15min-by-itself-on-23-04/8125/67

Oops…sorry missed that. I took the liberty of emailing one more time to Enphase support under the ticket they opened for me noting to them your reference that the API doc was missing references to the parameter you now use and they sent me in an email that should be used. Hopefully they update their documents. One of many jobs of my passed that I thought I retired from LOL. Thanks again for the followup and fix BB.

After a week without a reply I prompted Enphase support regarding my ticket… this was the reply:

"Thank you for your message and the detailed explanation regarding the recent irregularities in your gateway power data.

We understand how concerning it is to see incorrect data after nearly two years of stable performance. Based on your description and supporting details, we recognize the issue of alternating zero values affecting the accuracy of both production and consumption reports, along with the discrepancies reflected in the Enlighten app.

We are currently working on it, we will keep you posted once the issue is resolved.
Thanks & Regards,"

Which is a kind of robotic answer… hopefully there’s more information coming.

The fact that my Enlighten graphs have alternating 15min zero points but still arrive at correct generation & consumption totals is interesting but the zeros in the data really warps PVO results dramatically.
Is anyone else getting this sort of output from their Envoy reports / Enlighten graphs, and by extension completely messed up PVO data.
