Recommended weather stations to push from Wunderground?

So just as I’ve gotten my Rainforest Eagle consumption data working again with pvoutput (been using both together for 10+ years), after struggling the past month to solve it - I’ve now been notified by Acurite that my personal weather station, which I upload temps and data via Wunderground is shifting also from a cloud portal to a new mobile app.

And the Acurite cloud shutting down this month (after I’ve been using Acurite with Wunderground for 10+ years as well) the new app will require a paid subscription to upload to Wunderground. Now the temperature data uploaded to pvoutput is more just for convenience, I think it’s only used to estimate insolation and solar output a little more accurately - so not as critical as my Eagle consumption data.

But wondering if others have recommendations of a good personal weather station that can upload to Wunderground without a recurring paid subscription, so that I can continue to send my personal weather data from Wunderground to pvoutput?

Hi,

I have a relatively inexpensive Internet connected weather station the uploads to Wunderground.

However I have discovered that by running rtl_443 on my Raspberry Pi with a connected RTL SDR I can receive and decode [ as JSON ] the data transmitted from the weather instrument to the internal LCD, which displays both internal and external weather data.

This data can be readily extracted is a script and uploaded to PVO. It could also be uploaded directly to a weather site that provides an API.

The instrument transmits the data on 917 MHz. Others that I have seen use 433 MHz. My particular weather station uses a tipping bucket to measure rainfall however in gusty weather the bucket is moved causing the gauge to over report rainfall - so not the most accurate instrument available,

If you are in USA, you might want to look at Ambient Weather network. While they have paid subscriptions, You can use the free service(limited info) without subscribing and it will link to both Wunderground and PVoutput.org.
Real Time Weather Data on Ambient Weather Network
Stations can be purchased here:

Just checked: Seems that Ambient Weather Network may be accessible outside USA. YMMV

Thank you both for the recommendations.

I have seen the Ambient Weather stations before, they look similar in functionality to Acurite, so seems like potentially a solid like-for-like replacement. I’ll definitely take a closer look.
