Felix Solar app fails to upload data to PVOutput

For the past 12-13 years (I don’t recall if I paid for or not) I have been using the android Felix Solar app to upload my SMA Inverter data to PVOutput.org. As years have passed, my Felix Solar has been more frequently failing to upload my data; seemly loosing connection to PVOutput.org. The only way I’ve been able to get the Upload to work is to Restart the tablet itself and the Felix Solar app which suggests to me that the app only looks for the PVOuput host address on initial startup. Initially, it only seemed to happen on Sundays which I thought was probably due to PVOutput.org performing maintainance but in more recent times it sometimes happens multiple times a week. A few years ago. I tried changing the Name Saved Server address but it made no difference. This happens with both Samsung and Lenovo tablets.

Additionally, I have an Enphase system reporting to PVOutput.org using the same router and that works fine. There are short periods when it doesn’t upload to PVoutput.org probably due to Enphase maintainance but it always starts uploading on it’s own. Only once or twice have I gotten an email from PVOutput.org saying both systems are had not been uploading.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
TimandSher

Perhaps the device is getting a little old, try running this on a another/newer tablet to see if it makes in difference to the connection quality.

Occationally I have to restart mine. Its like the bluetooth doesnt hold well. Its probably just my inverter more than the Felix App

Thanks for your reply. I replaced my Samsung Tab3 with a Lenovo tablet two years ago thinking it might have been the Tab3 and the problem immediately followed to the Lenovo as well.

Thanks for the suggestion. I’m never missing data in my tablet it simply won’t upload. It goes through the motions but just hangs and never completes until I reboot the tablet and restart the Felix app, which could be days if I’m away when it occurs. I don’t see any data at PVOutput associated with the failing upload.

It acts like it is establishing the PVOutput host ip address during initialization and loosing the ip address (or the address is changing) and it doesn’t attempt to recover…just waits for a reboot. I’ve tried changing the Name Saved Server but that hasn’t helped.

Bluetooth connection to the inverter?

I get the hang as well quite often but have since day 1 (9 years ago now).

Make sure it’s close enough to it and no recent interference in the area… I find my Bluetooth is not very stable with Felix if I’m too far away or connected for too long. I just poll manually now every 48 hrs or so and batch upload to PVOutput.

Find if Felix doesn’t respond/ connect, move closer and kill the app in Android and restart it (end the process fully not just hit the home button) I’ve also got auto DB backup on as well on startup.

Yes, Bluetooth connection to the SMA Inverter. I’ll try moving it closer to the Inverter to see if that helps.
I have an SMA Sunny Beam (basically a data display console) which is Bluetooth connected to the same inverter and it is 15’ further away from the inverter but in direct line with the Lenovo Felix robot from and it always has the latest data. I haven’t had the problem since I first posted and hopefully moving it closer to the inverter will fix it. Thanks again!
