Just had a problem with updates not working. tracked it down to a W10 update earlier today which updated the port driver for the prolific emulation used by the current cost data cable. Windows (in it’s wisdom) upgraded the driver and VSPE stopped working. I used roll back the driver option in device manager for the com port and all is now back to normal. I guess I should stop windows from updating again in the future. Hope this might help save someone a headacheas I reach for the paracetamol!
I’ve had that same issue in the past with Windows updating the drivers
I believe you can’t stop Windows 10 doing updates, you can just delay them a few months.
I too WAS using VSPE and so had to run the 32 bit version of Windows (for the free VSPE licence to work) I now do 95% of my data collecting with Home Assistant on a Raspberry Pi and so don’t need any virtual COM ports and so could update my Windows OS to 64bit thus utilising more memory.
I’m still using all my Current Cost equipment plus LOTS & LOTS of other tech.
If you haven’t already, have a look into HA.
