503 Error on 28Jun2017

Is anyone else seeing a 503 Service Unavailable error when trying to view your system?

Unfortunately yes. Seeing it since I got up this morning

Looks like they are back. I can now post to this thread. My uploads were going through successfully, just couldn’t verify at the site since it was missing. Just checked and everything seems back in order. Wonder what happened?

Yes and we can’t all report it early in the day because this forum is served by the same server. BB needs to move this forum off that server so they are not both out at the sametime. I had to through ABOUT path way of PVOUTPUT find the email to them to send an email in hopes they are reading that. PLEASE move this forum to another server so things can be reported. My site seems to have caught up or it always was caught up and just our view of the web site hosted was not reachable because of that server error. BTW the site was working fine about 9am EST then was not later in the morning.

The message board was still working for me, just not the System Pages. PVOutput.org was still reachable, there just wasn’t anything there to view.

The message board was not reachable by me. It appears to use the same login as the pvoutput.org site. pvoutput.org was pingable. It was resolvable and traceroutable. Just no one home answer http queries. Wonder if it was a DNS problem that was area specific.

How are you uploading to PVOutput? My Power and Energy Used, Voltage and Temperature uploads, which are done through the PVOutput API did not got through during the time it was down (0755-1340 PDT - UTC-7). My Enphase data which is sent via automatic uploads is fine.

I use FTP Push through a SMA Webbox for generation data. I use Rainforest Automation Eagle for consumption and the weather underground api for temperature and solar insolation.

It must just be the different ways we upload. My API uploads are custom scripts that I wrote so I understand why they didn’t go through if the site API wasn’t working. However I use the weather underground API also and that did not update during the outage. Strange

I see the problem now. I do use the WU API but I also overwrite that via API Uploads from a Personal Weather Station. The WU Weather Station I use is also currently down so PVOutput can’t backfill and since my scripts couldn’t reach the PVO API, the temp didn’t get overwritten from there. Oh well.

i think if you were already logged into the forum then you could post, but if you had to log in, that didn’t work as the login is apparently handled by the same server that was down.

That does make sense since this board uses your PVO credentials.

The problem was resolved at 2017-06-28 21:00 UTC. Apologies for the inconvenience.

The affected server was handling main web traffic and API requests. Unfortunately a bug in one of the monitoring scripts meant that the server was unable to be started properly after the problem was detected. This has been fixed now.

Auto Uploader data collection would have still been running during that time as it on a different server.

This forum is also on its own server, but does use the main server for authentication.
